The Cargo Handling Corporation Limited, a private company with state shareholding, is responsible for handling activities in the Port : loading, unloading, delivery and reception of containers and general cargo.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates who wish to be considered for employment in the following positions: –
- Engineer
- Chief of Procurement and Stores
- Head of Stores
- Engineer
The Engineer will be responsible for the maintenance & management of the container handling equipment such as STS, RTG, substation, Reach Stacker, Forklift and Tractor Trailer and other necessary auxiliary equipment.
Qualification and Experience Requirements:
(a) By selection from among candidates who are Registered Professional Engineer (Mechanical, Electronics or Mechatronics) with the Council of Registered Professional Engineers of Mauritius under section 13 of Act No 49 of 1965, as subsequently amended; and
(b) Minimum three years on hand experience in the maintenance of heavy equipment. Excellent computer literacy, proficient in the use of Microsoft office suite and maintenance management applications.

The post carries salary in scale Rs 57,375 x 2975 – 69,275 x 3975 – 105,050
Salary will be negotiable within the scale and commensurate on candidate’s qualification and experience.
2. Chief of Procurement and Stores
The Chief of Procurement and Stores shall oversee the Procurement and Inventory Units of the Organization and will be accountable for:
(a) Directing and managing all Procurement and Inventory functions of the Company.
(b) Planning, formulating, and executing effective Procurement and Inventory Management strategies to address organizational requirements.
Candidates should possess:
A. Higher School Certificate and
B. Either
(i) A professional Diploma in Purchasing and Supply from the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS – UK) with at least 8 years’ experience in Procurement/Inventory field; or
(ii) A Degree in Purchasing and Supply Chain Management from a recognised institution plus at least 8 years’ experience in Procurement/Inventory field; or
(iii) A Degree in Management/Administration/Accounting/Finance/ Engineering from a recognised institution plus at least 8 years’ experience in Procurement/Inventory field; or
(iv) A Degree in Logistics & Supply Chain Management from a recognized institution plus a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Procurement/Inventory fields.
Required Skills/Attributes:
(i) Proven team management skills.
(ii) Be a strategic thinker and possess ability to make decisions, exhibit sound and accurate judgment and make timely decisions.
(iii) Strong and effective oral and written communication as well as presentation skills.

3. Head of Stores
The Head of Stores will be managing the Stores Unit of the organization and will be responsible for the following: –
(a) To renew and implement an effective strategy to meet organizational needs.
(b) To advise Management on inventory activities and on best strategy to effectively manage and keep stock items.
Qualification and Experience Requirements:
A: Higher School Certificate and
B: Either
(a) A Professional Diploma in Procurement and Supply from the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS – UK) plus a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Procurement/Inventory fields; or
(b) A Degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management from a recognized institution plus a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Procurement/Inventory fields; or
(c) A Degree in Logistics & Supply Chain Management from a recognized institution plus a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Procurement/Inventory fields; or
(d) A Degree in Management/ Administration/ Inventory Management/ Accounting/ Finance or equivalent from a recognized institution and at least 5 years’ experience in Procurement/Inventory fields.
Required Skills / Attributes:
(i) Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
(ii) Fully conversant with the Public Procurement Act 2006 and Public Procurement Regulation.
(iii) Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
(iv) Be a good team player.
(v) Be able to create and implement innovative solution in regard to Inventory Management.
(vi) Possess good IT skills.
(vii) Have a good knowledge of management of stock items including spare parts.
(viii) High degree of confidentiality, integrity and ethics.
(ix) Good communication skills.

The offer of employment for the three (3) Posts may be on establishment with one year’s probation or on a contract basis for an initial period of 2 years with possibility of renewal.
